GOV. CHIME SULLIVAN'S ANTITHESIS VIS-A-VIS SEN. IKE EKWERAMADU'S THESIS

First was Sen. Ike Ekeremadu's thesis: “There is no zoning in Enugu. I am not aware and nobody is aware". But now comes Gov. Chime Sullivan's Antithesis: "That going by an internal arrangement of the PDP, it is the turn of Nsukka to produce the next governorship candidate of the party". As we await a synthesis of these polemics, one thing is certain and that is:
the next Enugu state governor will be from Nsukka and there have been reactions to this development.

The people of Nsukka have expressed happiness with the governor of Enugu State, Barrister Sullivan Chime over his recent declaration that it is the turn of the people from area to produce the governor of the state in 2015.
Nsukka community elders in a statement signed by Chief Maxi Okuta yesterday said Governor Chime by the action has demonstrated that he is a man of honour.
A Town Hall Meeting was held in the capital city of Enugu, where Chime told excited stakeholders of the state and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that going by an internal arrangement of the PDP, it is the turn of Nsukka to produce the next governorship candidate of the party

This is however coming days after the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu declared his intention not to contest in the 2015 Enugu gubernatorial elections

ekweremadu_deputy_senate_president_0The deputy Senator president has spoken but if anything, he has left watchers  with more confusion than clarification as to where he truly stands as regards the 2015 Enugu gubernatorial race.

Yes although he was said to have debunked reports that he was eyeing the governorship position of Enugu State in 2015, his insistence that there was no zoning arrangement in Enugu State as being bandied in some quarters, leaves alot to speculations.

Hear him: “There is no zoning in Enugu. I am not aware and nobody is aware. I have been in politics in Enugu since the beginning of this particular dispensation. People from every parts of the state have vied but somehow, somebody would win.

“So, I am sure that our brothers from Nsukka understand that clearly. I stand to be challenged.
“I want anybody to tell me a document or a meeting where the Governorship of Enugu has ever been zone since 1999. I will be happy if somebody from Enugu North becomes governor but not on the basis of zoning. Probably they are the only one that has not produce the governor of the state but like I said, it has nothing to do with zoning.
“There is nothing like zoning in Enugu as at today. Until zoning is done, I don’t think anybody who wants to run from other parts of the state can be stopped. But for me, I am not running for governorship,” he said.
